1. About the project
Since 2013, UNHCR - the UN Refugee Agency has been one of our main partners, with whom we are currently implementing the project “Advocacy for access to the asylum procedure and the inclusion of forcibly displaced persons”.
2. How?
We provide information and counseling adapted to the needs of beneficiaries, regarding:
recognition of studies and professional qualifications
finding a job
family reunification
access to health services and other social benefits
acquiring the right to long-term residence or Romanian citizenship
access to the territory and the asylum procedure
We are involved in raising awareness of the issue of refugees and displaced persons from Ukraine through information and advocacy campaigns, organizing training sessions, developing informative materials and a monthly newsletter

We contribute to strengthening the dialogue between civil society and public authorities, as well as to improving practice and legislation through:
meetings with relevant parties, such as the General Inspectorate for Immigration, the Border Police, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Education, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, Employment Agencies, etc.
developing proposals within the consultation and public transparency processes;
We support communication between beneficiaries and various institutions to facilitate their access to their rights, by accompanying them to the hospital, city halls, DGASPC, police, ANAF, etc.
We organize socio-cultural events, meetings with refugee communities and thematic courses.
Starting with 2022, we organize online preparation sessions for the Romanian citizenship exam.
3. What have we achieved?
On average, by 2022, we have assisted 500 refugees annually. Specifically, we provide information and counseling on access to socio-economic rights (family reunification, employment and entrepreneurship in Romania, education, housing, acquisition of citizenship).

With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, our assistance expanded to meet the needs of displaced people, and the number of counselled beneficiaries increased to over 64,000 in 2023. In addition, we contributed to the development of the Dopomoha, platform, which reached 1.2 million users. In addition to displaced people from Ukraine, in 2023, the most beneficiaries were from Bangladesh, Syria, Pakistan, Nepal, Iraq and Afghanistan, and in 2023, the most were from Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Palestine, Cameroon, Pakistan and Nepal.
